Disscuse Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Disscuse - Essay Example The first advantage of pushing for negative interest rates is an increased share of investments into country’s economy. The central bank levies taxes for depositing money and it becomes unprofitable for commerce banks and companies. As a result, they invest funds into economy itself, evoking its growth and development. So, instead of lying on deposits, the money will be in turnover. Secondly, negative interest rates will motivate commercial banks to lend more. As a consequence, households will have higher liquidity. The next chain link is a higher demand on various commodities, as the more people can afford, the more they will buy. In the end this all leads to development of industry and higher production standards. However, there is no certain evidence that introducing negative interest rates will help countries to avoid extreme inflation, deflation or economic crisis. It is relatively new and almost untested method. It was once tried in Denmark and that experiment had some positive results. Now the European Central Bank is thinking to follow this example. All in all, I suppose that negative interest rate is quite an effective way of settling and stabilizing the economy and stimulating its further growth. Speaking about its reliability, I think there is a chance that this strategy may fail. Nevertheless, if used in cooperation with other methods, it may become a real breakthrough in world’s

Behavioral Issues in Special Education (self-injurous behavior) Essay

Behavioral Issues in Special Education (self-injurous behavior) - Essay Example Many of these children that are given special education are very disturbed and prone to inflicting harm against themselves. According to Fox, C & Hawton, K, self-injury does not really mean that the person wants to commit suicide but rather, a person who cuts or inflicts intentional harm upon himself or herself is hoping to relieve some of tension or emotional pain1 or just simply to manifest his or her frustrations over something. In the case of children with disabilities, their inability to communicate to others can be very frustrating. In most cases, these children express their frustrations by inflicting self-harm and to get the attention that they need. The failure on the part of the adult present to recognize the silent please of the child with disability can make the situation even worst. The child may continue to inflict upon herself or herself until such time when he or she gets what he or she needs. Schoeder, Mulich and Rojahn classified the Self-injurious behaviour (SIB) into two namely, the social and the non-social act. The social SIB often takes place in the social setting and was directly self-injurious such as head banging, self-biting, self-scratching, gouging, pinching and hair pulling [Weiss, 129-143]. Social SIB can happen frequently and may be associated with other forms of behaviour problems. On the other hand, the Non-Social SIB happens less frequently but may tend to inflict more harm u pon the child. Non-social SIB can be manifested through stuffing orifices, mouthing, sucking, rumination, ingestion of faeces, excessive fluid intake and ingestion of air [Weiss, 129-143]. In extreme instances, the injuries inflicted by the child upon himself or herself are so serious that it requires hospitalisation for a few days. Self-injurious behaviour (SIB) in children with learning disabilities and autism is one

Hotel Rwanda Essay Example for Free

Hotel Rwanda Essay Hotel Rwanda takes place in the years to1994, during the horrific genocide by the Hutus to hundreds of thousands of Tutsis. In Rwanda, you were a Tutsi or a Hutu and intense violence and hatred toward the Tutsi was encouraged and supported through the radio. Fighting, killing and opposition had been going on for several years, and when a new president signs a peace treaty to put the insane turbulence to an end, he is murdered. Paul Rusesabagina is a hotel manager at the nicest and most colorful hotel in their city of Rwanda. When news of the president reaches, European guests and staff leave the hotel to not be involved with the weeks that will worsen for the injustice to the Tutsis. Paul is assigned to be held in charge of this hotel and is threatened with the death of not only his wife and small children, but his neighbors and his friends. Paul continues to give everything he has to save their lives, while harassment of the Tutsi’s is increasing rapidly. Continuing, as the days of the killing and hatred grow stronger, Paul sees the horrific situations of orphans and families who have no place else to go and need the survival and safety of Paul’s hotel. As Paul let’s these people into his hotel, he finds himself with almost no one to turn to and is left with duty to save the innocent. One scene revives him to conquer this duty, as he views hundreds of dead bodies who had been murdered. A UN colonel does have his back and attempts to save lives living at the hotel by assigning visas to many of the â€Å"guests†. Yet the attempts of smuggling the people twice will not last because of the hatred of the radio to the Tutsis that is determined to make the massacre more successful. During this time, Paul realizes and assembles courage to dedicate the protection of not only the lives he knows but the innocent people outside the walls as well, and his hotel turns into a refugee camp. According to the movie, Paul saves 1,268 refugees and a million corpses were left behind. Rusesabagina and his wife Tatiana find their lost nieces and are safe by reaching the border and are filled with freedom and relief. The character of Paul is played by Don Cheadle and he played his character with such intensity I felt as if I were living in the movie and as if I were standing there watching everything taking place. Before watching this film, I never knew such horror and a terrible genocide had taken place. You surly don’t think about the horror of the present or the past as often as you should, and this film made me think, worry, and fear of all I never knew and don’t know. In the years leading up to 1994, other countries stood by and did nothing and by the will of God, one person, stood up and took on images that scarred him for life, even with the terror of planning a better death for his wife and children. This movie is definitely one of the most inspiring movies I’ve ever viewed, and my emotions had changed constantly, I was captured.

For applicants who wish to have a supplementary cardholder, they can download supplementary form online too. After all these are done, they can hand up the application form attach with all required documents to one of the branches to apply for credit card. dl application form.jpg Figure 1.6: Download credit card application form IMPROVEMENT There are total 8 methods available in Maybank to transfer fund which are Maybank Money Express, Foreign Telegraphic Transfer, 3rd party own account transfer, GIRO Interbank Transfer, China Remittance Service, MEPS Interbank Funds Transfer, Foreign Worker Telegraphic Transfer and MoneyGram Money Transfer. However, there are only three methods available on Maybank2u.com. In order to increase customers option in transferring funds, Maybank should include a few more methods on Maybank2u.com. In other words, it should make any of the five methods available to use online. For example, Maybank Money Express is one of the methods that allows overseas recipients to receive money instantly. By providing reference number given by the sender, recipients can receive the money immediately without having to wait. If this function is available online, users (sender) do not have to travel to branch physically to perform this transaction and recipients can still receive money at once. By having this, users can transfer funds in a more efficient manner. This directly increases customers satisfaction and also the banks reputation and it may attract more customers since it provides the most convenient way for customers to transfer funds overseas. Besides, M2U should increase daily transfer limit for transfer fund to 3rd party account. The default daily transfer limit is RM5000. If users want to transfer more than RM5000, they have to wait until next working day or proceed to ATM to conduct the transaction. This causes inconvenience to users who wish to transfer funds in a larger amount without having travel to branch physically. So, M2U should increase its daily transfer limit so that users can transfer more money online. NEW FUNCTIONS In order to response more promptly to customers request, M2U should provide a function which allows customers to have direct conversations with customer service representatives online when they face problem in using functions on M2U. This is also known as chat box. Many online shopping websites adopt this function so that they can react faster to customers question and need. Conventionally, when users face problems, they either give a call to customer service department or send e-mail and wait for their reply. These take time and some customers may feel impatient while waiting for their reply. Businesses should always place their customers as their top priority and they should fulfill customers need as much as possible and as fast as possible. So, if M2U develop this function, it can response more quickly to customers need and this indirectly increase customers satisfaction and they can retain customers loyalty. For users who wish to apply Maybank credit card online, M2U again causes another inconvenience as there is no function that allows customers to apply credit card online. All it has are only detailed information about credit cards and users can download application form if they want to apply credit cards. So, M2U should insert this function and it can further develop another function for applicants to upload supporting documents. By having this, supporting documents such as NRIC, latest BE form with official tax receipt, latest 2 months salary slips, latest 3 months savings account activity/current account statements, etc can be uploaded and submitted online by the applicants together with the application of credit card. This function really bring great convenience for people who are busy and always have no free time to travel to branch physically.

Annuities Businesses, financial institution, and other organizations invest in annuities to raise money to pay such expenses as bond debts, notes due, or stock dividends. They also invest in annuities to provide for future needs, such as new facilities and equipment or employee retirement benefits. Individuals may purchase annuities, such as an Individual Retirement Account (IRA), or an insurance policy, from insurance companies, financial institutions, or securities brokers.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  An ordinary annuity is a series of regular payments where each payment is made at the end of the payment period. The payment period is the length of time between payments. Payments are usually made annually, semiannually, quarterly, or monthly. The term of the annuity is the length of time from the beginning of the first payment period to the end of the last payment period. The amount of the annuity is the sum of all payments plus their accumulated interest. Their amount is also called the cash value.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The amount of an annuity can be found by using the Amount of an Annuity table. The table lists the value of an annuity of $1 compounded at various rates for various time periods. To find the amount of an ordinary annuity using the annuity table, multiply the payment by the appropriate table value. The interest earned can be found by subtracting the sum of the payments from the amount of the annuity. For example: Brian purchased an ordinary an...

Perceived Risk, Market Risk, and Accounting Determined Risk Measures

Businesses exist and are run in a constantly changing environment whether it is external or internal and the change needs to be monitored and assessed in order to provide a timely response. In order to be proactive in today’s competitive business scenario, the proper management of risks associated with business and projects undertaken becomes crucial for survival and success. Risk is therefore a threat to an organization’s ability to accomplish its missions and goals because it involves uncertainty about a future event. Risk management is an attempt to monitor & reduce the uncertainty with the help of strategies and techniques. There are four basic steps universally used in risk management: 1. Risk Identification: There are controllable and uncontrollable events associated with a business or a project. All the possibilities that may affect the outcome of a project should be listed down. This is a crucial step and requires managers to be vigilant, observant and pragmatic because further steps cannot be applied if a risk is not identified properly. 2. Risk Quantification: Risk once identified needs to be assessed both in terms of its probability and the impact it could have on the project or business. The simple way of assessing the risk will be to rate its probability and impact on a scale of let’s say 1-5 and multiply both. Risk assessment = probability x impact Let’s suppose if the probability of an uncertain event is rated 4 and its impact is rated 5 then the risk can be considered critical to the success of a business project. Similarly based on the ratings given and the product of the two values obtained, a risk can be considered critical, high, medium or low. 3. Risk Response: Now that the risk has been assessed, management must immediately act to put a strategy in place in its response. There are three basic strategies managers adopt that is avoidance, mitigation or acceptance. Management may adopt the strategy of avoiding a risk completely if its considered critical to a projects success for example a distribution channel might not work out for a product and so manger might think of adopting an alternative channel for distribution. Another strategy that management can pursue is of mitigation for example manager may make a decision to have two or more distributors for their product. Lastly, if the risk is too low or normal with a project of your stature manager may accept its presence with the project. Strategy formulation is not enough until actions necessary to implement a strategy are not identified and so decision in this regard should also be taken in this step. 4. Risk Response Control: The last step is of monitoring the risks identified and assessed as the project goes on till its completion. If any deviations are found in the process then corrective actions should be taken to redress the issues. An adaptive approach can help in this step because managers may need to bring about some or complete change in the strategy if the possible impact of a risk differs from one previously assessed. If the above-mentioned plan is followed and risk manger carries out proper analysis followed by action then success of a project and the business becomes more likely. The two major types of testing: Developmental Test and Evaluation Operational Test and Evaluation Live Fire Test and Evaluation is a third type used in certain cases Implementation of Testing and evaluation is a promising step to revolutionize strategic goals in business achievements. Implementing test and evaluation management is to develop new assumptions for the positive approach and then re-considering it and implementing it to attain new goals that were never accomplished before (Shan, 1996). This is done to improve quality, production, reduce cost, thorough assessment and improve service. This would produce impressive work output with increased production in short time, to fulfill demands of the market, enhance customer response and to decrease labor force. Implementing test and evaluation is done by increasing number of organizations and institutes to enhance their business performance. Different sectors of business community that are engaging Implementing are telecommunication services, hospitals, healthcare institutes, accounting services, financial institutes, order inventory and registration, automation of manufacturing, and food industries. Logistic support problems are culturally based. They focus on the culture and the environment of an organization. Every business should be customer focus. Entrepreneurs are selling to customers, so it is a basic fact that products should be made according to customer’s need.   Hence, for developing business relations with any country an entrepreneurs must study, research and travel to that area to know more about people, their customs, their likes and dislikes. The more the entrepreneur will be familiar with the culture and the people, it is more likely that their business will blossom in that country. All companies and organizations agree that excellent customer service is the key role in to assess trends in fluctuating market. It may also need to redesign completely the organizational structure that would reach customer, understand and identifying their needs. By using different assessment procedures customer relationship has to be improved with focus on customer requirements.          Â
